Susan Pfiffner goes deep into the Earth looking for life in the water of the gold mines of South Africa and in drilling sites above the Artic Circle. In her research as an astrobiologist, she examines extreme organisms and how they exist in environments two kilometers below land surface. Dr. Pfiffner will share her research with ASC students as they study extreme organisms collected from water samples in these deep-earth mine fissures.
